I prepared these a long time ago, but never published them.<\/p>\n<p>Christmas gingerbread recipe is one of those from the archive, &lsquo;unpublished, but not forgotten&rsquo;.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<div class=\"recipe-info columns-1\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"title\">Intermediate<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"sub-title\">PREPARE<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"recipe-ingredients recipe-tabs\" id=\"recipe-tabs\">\n\t\t<div class=\"tab-items\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<button class=\"active\" data-collapse=\"#recipeTabs0\" data-parent=\"#recipe-tabs\">How to prepare<\/button>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"tab-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"recipeTabs0\" class=\"collapse show\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"recipe\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>components<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>300 gr sugar<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>200 gr butter<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>3\/4 dl honey<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>1,5 dl heavy cream<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>2 tsp cognac or rum<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>4 tsp cinnamon<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>1 tsp black pepper<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>2 tsp cloves, then crushed them or buy ground cloves<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>1 Tbsp baking soda<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>650 gr flour<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>Royal icing<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>1\/4 tsp ground ginger<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ingredients\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>Instruction<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ol>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>Melt the butter in the warmed pan and add sugar, and then honey.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>Stir together until melted then set aside to cool.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>Once the mixture has cooled, add heavy cream and cognac and all dry spices and baking soda.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>Then gradually add flour. You want to have a smooth and firm dough.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>Take the dough and cover with the plastic wrap and place in refrigerator for half an hour.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>After half an hour remove the dough from the refrigerator and put on room temperature.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>Preheat the oven to 170\u00b0C.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>Lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of 0,5 cm. Place all them on a baking sheet.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>Bake in the oven for about 10-12 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>In the mintime prepare royal icing for decoration.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li>Paint he gingerbread as you want.<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/ol>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/savourytrips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Gingerbread-novogodisnji-kolaci_15L.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopenner noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9974\" src=\"http:\/\/savourytrips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Gingerbread-novogodisnji-kolaci_15L.jpg\" alt=\"Recept za Bo&#382;i&#263;ne medenjake (gingerbread) \/ Recipe for Old fashioned gingerbread\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Gingerbread is a number 1 recipe if you want to spend some time with your children. No matter their age. Making and decorating these cookies is fun for every generation.<\/p>\n<p>This time last year, I gathered my teenagers to decorate together. This is one of the recipes for which you don&rsquo;t need to be a pro in the kitchen&hellip; a great recipe for some family time.<\/p>\n<h2>Gingerbread recipe and &hellip;<\/h2>\n<h3>What will you need?<\/h3>\n<p>Some good will, flour, sugar, butter, honey (or either yacon, or maple syrup- you can buy it in our country, it&rsquo;s only the matter of price), sweet cream, cognac or some other winter liquor, ginger, cinnamon, clove, black pepper, baking powder, and some molds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/savourytrips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Gingerbread-novogodisnji-kolaci_10L.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopenner noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9969 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/savourytrips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Gingerbread-novogodisnji-kolaci_10L.jpg\" alt=\"Recept za Bo&#382;i&#263;ne medenjake (gingerbread) \/ Recipe for Old fashioned gingerbread\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>How did I knead the dough?<\/h2>\n<p>I melted butter in a heated cooker and added some sugar, then I stirred it.<\/p>\n<p>After that, I added&nbsp;<strong>yacon syrup,&nbsp;<em>you can add some honey instead.&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Honestly, I had to try that syrup, to feel its texture and flavor. It is significantly stronger than our domestic honey, but I wouldn&rsquo;t change the amount because these cookies are supposed to be really sweet .<\/p>\n<p>Once I was done with cooking, I put everything in a dish in which I would knead the dough for the traditional Christmas gingerbread&hellip; of course, before I added flour and started kneading, I chilled the mixture prepared by melting the butter and combining the spices.<\/p>\n<p>After the mixture was cooled&hellip;<\/p>\n<p>I added sweet cream and stirred.<\/p>\n<p>And then, start adding everything else, cognac and the dried spices&hellip;<\/p>\n<p>Don&rsquo;t forget&hellip; you have to stir all along&hellip;<\/p>\n<p>Then, add flour. My flour was mixture of plain white and rye. That is how I justified the &lsquo;traditional&rsquo; in the name of the recipe&hellip; because it made the gingerbread look rather rustic.<\/p>\n<p>Once my hand was too tired to continue kneading&hellip; I used mixer to help me complete everything.<\/p>\n<h2>To knead or not to knead?<\/h2>\n<p>Some kneading first, then leave it on the side for a while&hellip;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/savourytrips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Gingerbread-novogodisnji-kolaci_14L.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopenner noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9973 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/savourytrips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Gingerbread-novogodisnji-kolaci_14L.jpg\" alt=\"Recept za Bo&#382;i&#263;ne medenjake (gingerbread) \/ Recipe for Old fashioned gingerbread\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dust some flour on your work surface and get on the job. A little bit to the right, then some on the left&hellip; knead it, and &hellip; they&rsquo;re done&hellip; Christmas gingerbread.<\/p>\n<p>Just enough time for some rest and for me to get ready for Christmas gingerbread decoration, I covered the dough with foil and left it in the fridge to chill.<\/p>\n<h2>Spread and cut&hellip; spread and cut&hellip;<\/h2>\n<p>Until all the dough has been used.<\/p>\n<p>You will need some molds for this part&hellip; if you don&rsquo;t have the Christmas ones, any plastic molds for cookies will do.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/savourytrips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Gingerbread-novogodisnji-kolaci_17L.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopenner noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9967 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/savourytrips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Gingerbread-novogodisnji-kolaci_17L.jpg\" alt=\"Recept za Bo&#382;i&#263;ne medenjake (gingerbread) \/ Recipe for Old fashioned gingerbread\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I used molds to cut the dough, and placed them in the tinplate&hellip; then, I baked them for 10 minutes at 170&deg;C. That&rsquo;s very little time, so make sure you keep an eye on them, or they can become too dry.<\/p>\n<h2>Decorating and coloring&hellip;<\/h2>\n<p>After the baking part, it&rsquo;s time for decorating.<\/p>\n<p>I didn&rsquo;t prepare the glaze myself, I bought it ready made&hellip; and simply prepared it by the instructions on the bag. I just added Christmas decoration colors.<\/p>\n<p>That wasn&rsquo;t the professional gingerbread decoration or pattern, but I saw no point in that.
